Enjoying a few days off in wonderful Key West, FL, one part to celebrate our 10 year anniversary, another part to decompress. It's a vacation that is desperately needed, as work and time are taking a toll.  Enjoy the week.

Lonely Visit to Southern California

I spent a few days in California visiting my Dad.  I’ve been in a pensive mood and he accommodated my need to walk along the Pacific Ocean.  Although I live only 8 miles from the Fort Lauderdale beach, I never see it, walk along it or put my feet in the sand.

Strange Sights

My DH and I were driving along the Florida Turnpike along near Pompano when my DH pointed to Mt. Trashmore  (landfill) and asked if I had noticed the Hollywood sign that had gone during the last week.

It turns out that Tom Cruise and cast (Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Paul Giamatti ) are filming the movie "Rock of Ages" in South Florida.  Apparently the crew needed a replica of the Hollywood sign for the movie and built one along the "hills" of Mt. Trashmore.

April 2010 Projects

Just returned from a lovely week in California. Spent time with family via the first Family Reunion and walking along the sunny California coastline with DH.  Perhaps it was sand or sitting by the beach drinking Mimosas that has me thinking of Summer.  While the temperatures in CA were between the low 40s to 70s, the temperature in Florida has been creeping into the 80s, which we Floridians lovingly call Spring.  Either way the beach and warm weather has me thinking about new projects as I have been itching to get creative again.

Last year I made a Clutch for one of my sisters (which I never did get a picture of) and since she received so many complements...
Therefore, last night I started digging through my fabric stash, as I am thinking about making some Clutch handbags using bright cottons and warm linens.  So far I picked out two linens and fabric from the collections of Anna Maria Horner, Laura Gunn and Valori Wells.

Traveling Girl

It's a been crazy at work and some of the activity has warranted my attention. Aside from handling some issues, I have also been conducting management training which has required some traveling. Last week I drove over to the West Coast (of Florida that is) twice and this week I flew out to Puerto Rico for a few days to conduct management training as well. Even though I sat in the window seat for the going and returning flights, for some reason I did not appreciate the view until the flight home today. We were about an hour out of landing in Fort Lauderdale when I snapped this picture via my cell phone, so I am assuming this is part of the Bahamas. (I know, I turned my phone on during the flight.) Since it is a camera phone the picture is not the best quality and I think there is dirt on the window, but you get the idea of the breathtaking view.
