Weekend Adventures

Sewing Projects this weekend including working on the Kelo Pink Bag, which I ended up putting on hold to rethink the bag's overall construction and some pattern modifications...I did have a change to complete Bag #7 & Bag #8...

The Fat Quarter Handbag with Purple and Orange from a tutorial provided by Jennifer Ladd on the Sew Mama Sew Site

and...

the Fredrika Slouch Bag with fabric I had purchased from Ikea a few months ago.

Spent Saturday afternoon with DH at the movies. We saw The Hangover which I've been waiting for days to see, I laughed from start to finish. Click on the link for the movie trailer...

And finally...although the temperature on Sunday reached up to the upper 90s, I managed to make a few Lampwork Beads, (using some of the glass DH had purchased for me about two Christmas' ago) before calling it quits and jumping into the pool...

Lampwork Beads for Sale

As I continue on my Lampwork Bead Theme, I just posted some lampwork beads on my Etsy site: Orange Dot Mix Lampwork Beads

These were created during my Orange Phase....A mix of white, black, orange, red and yellow Moretti (Effetre) glass. The set contains 2 shapes, one created with a crystal bead press, the others are shaped with a paddle at odd angles for an irregular round shape. The set contains 5 irregular rounds beads and range from 25 to 35mm in size as well as 5 crystal shape beads.

Lonely Saturday

I had the house to myself this past Saturday was feeling lonely so I spent the day lampworking, or glass painting as I like to describe it. I pulled my babies out of the kiln this morning and wasn't that thrilled with the results. While I enjoy mismatched shapes and designs these may be a bit too mismatched.
I haven't decided what I am going to do with these babies (try to sell them on Etsy as beads or perhaps use them in a design). Of course there is always adding them to my ever growing pile of existing Lampwork Beads.

Lonely Saturday

I had the house to myself this past Saturday and spent the afternoon lampworking or painting glass as I like to call it. Pulled my babies out of the kiln this morning and wasn't that thrill with the results. As usual, I enjoy mismatched designs and shapes, but this may be a bit too mismatched.

Not sure what I am going to do with these babies (try to sell them on Etsy or use them in a design). Of course there is the old stand-by, add them to my growing pile of lampwork beads.

Monet Calling - Part 2

Last Sunday I spent a large portion of the day in front of my torch, instead of bending wire around pretty stones. So in order to feel as if I didn't waste the day, I decided to post my little creations. My goal was to accent a pretty blue cord that I found at a local bead shop, so perhaps if I finish the necklace tonight I will post it tomorrow. I also did promise myself that I would bend wire this weekend, but now...hmmm... I think to myself that I really did enjoy my torch time. However, it's going to be a busy weekend so my torch may have to wait. Later today, I have a meeting with a friend who creates the most beautiful designs that I can only describe by saying I envy her talents. I also have a show coming up in August and as my sister says to me all the time, "You better get busy making some product."

Monet Calling

It was beyond warm today, at 4:30pm it was 90◦F in the shade (really!), but the need to play with fire today overcame my need to stay indoors or to lounge in the pool. I started the morning by working on necklace with a blue micro suede and then thought that some of my Monet lampwork beads would compliment the cord, but of course all I had were a mix of mismatched Monet beads. I fired up the kiln and made about 13 beads - mix of bicone, button and lentil shapes and as I write the kiln is ramping down.

These earrings consists of my handmade lampwork beads inspired by Monet's The Artist's Garden at Giverny, accented with Swarovski Crystals in Capri Blue, Bali Silver & sterling silver ear wires. Earrings are available with a square or round lampwork bead. LD-ER139. http://www.lonerdesigns.com/LD-ER139.htm
